A Teenage Debut: My Thrilling Journey at the 2023 MRF Indian National Car Racing Championship

The roar of engines, the smell of burning rubber, and the thrill of high-speed competition - these are the sensations that engulfed me as I made my debut at the MRF Indian National Car Racing Championship on July 22-23, 2023, in Chennai. At just 15 years old, I found myself competing in the super stock category, behind the wheel of a VW Polo, with the car number 20 proudly displayed on its exterior.

The journey to the racetrack had been nothing short of a dream come true. The anticipation and excitement had been building for months, but little did I know that my first taste of competitive racing would be an unforgettable rollercoaster ride.

The early morning practice rounds held hopes for a promising debut, but fate had other plans. In the very first round of practice, disaster struck. A crash left my VW Polo severely damaged, particularly the entire left side. It was a disheartening moment, and questions swirled in my mind. Would I ever make it to the actual races? The answer, thanks to my incredible team and the dedicated mechanics of Pura Vida Racing, was a resounding "yes." A special thanks to my team principal Mr. Suprej Venkat and Mr. Sarosh Hataria of Ahura Racing for all the encouragement and support.

The teamwork displayed during the hours that followed was awe-inspiring. The mechanics worked tirelessly to repair the damaged car, ensuring it was race-ready. Their expertise and determination were truly commendable, turning what could have been a nightmare into a testament of resilience and determination.

As the repaired car rolled onto the track, my emotions were a mix of nervousness and excitement. I was about to line up on the grid alongside some of the best talents in Indian motorsport. The heartbeats echoed in my ears as the lights went off, signaling the start of the first race.

Over the course of the championship, I didn't manage to secure victory in any of the four rounds. But this journey was about so much more than just winning. It was a profound learning experience and an adventure that tested my mettle. Each lap, each corner, and each competitor provided valuable lessons and insights into the world of professional racing.

I discovered the importance of mental resilience, adaptability, and the unrelenting spirit required to thrive in motorsport. The thrill of the race, the adrenaline rush, and the camaraderie among fellow racers were simply incomparable.
